Privacy is one thing, and I´m all for it, like secure (https) browsing,
encryption and the like.
Anonymity is another. When I write an email I´d like to know I´m writing to
Jan Whitaker and that I can google the name and learn about the other
person.
On the other hand if you wrote as "wizardboop123" I wouldn´t take your
writings with the same degree of attention...
Anonimity breeds easier ability to create so-called "sock puppets". And
then you don´t know whom you´re talking about anymore...
Unless you live in a bloody dictatorshipwith a track record of imprisoning
and torturing dissidents, I´d like to know whom I am talking -or exchanging
emails- with. For the same reason I wouldn´t engage in a chat with someone
wearing a mask while walking down the street.
