So do I,  and I agree with you.

I went on a half day trip to China from Macau some years ago, before 
Hong Kong and Macau reverted to Chinese rule. You can't see much of 
China in half a day, but what I did see were the beggars in the square 
just past the customs post. Cripples and legless folk dragging 
themselves around by their arms to all the coaches full of rich westerners.

That's when I decided I didn't mind paying my taxes.
