Great work if you can get it!

Considered rationally, it's not obvious why the guy should have been
sacked, except for the small matter of security policy violations, and the
unfortunate fact that it just doesn't look good.  OTOH, the company could
have been getting a great two-for-one deal here: One executive developer
and one gun coder for the single salary.
