Down here there are small specialty hardware stores which make a
killing selling hard-to-find plumbing spare parts, like bronze pipe
fittings and the like, which are remanufactured even while the
original manufacturer often has been out of business for a couple
decades.

Those parts are manufactured in the original materials -bronze, pvc,
stainless steel etc. No 3D printing involved, just regular mass
producton, in low runs.

But I find the "let´s put 3D printing into headlines at all costs"
effort amusing.
