[LINK] Spam from New Australian Prime Minister

Right on, Stephen
There was another news item this morning from Europe, which mentioned that very few over there were getting the bandwidth they paid for ... and stated that the European actual AVERAGE was 19Mbs. Compare this to the (advertised) 25Mbs Malcolm thinks will cater to Australians' needs for the next 10 years or so, and you really see how out of touch the LNP Internet strategy is.
Unless Tony and Malcolm revisit their NBN demand estimates 'real soon now' they look like being real out of touch when it becomes an election issue. I mean, the Australian public even now supports the Labour fibre alternative, networking techies (including Geoff Huston ... who, together with others at AARNET did have something to do with setting up the Net in Oz) support the fibre, and economists support the fibre. About the only people who don't seem to be supporting the fibre are Telstra's David Thodey (who recently said that the copper had another 100 years left in it), News Ltd and other media outlets who'd like their content audience captive to the slower copper, and the Australian Wiccan Union who apparently reckon it's gonna mess up their lay lines.
Bottom line: What Tony Abbot and the LNP doesn't know about IT, networking, the Internet and what's coming over the next 10 to 20 years would fill an innumerable number of volumes. I can't think of one of them I'd trust on anything to do with technology ...
Just my 2 cents worth ...
