somebody ought to tell them that it'll allow their ley lines to
heal because unlike copper wires, there's no electromagnetic fields
surrounding fibre.

Microtex 666, actually a Viatel Service Provider. I worked there in
about '83 or so, when APC & Microtex were run out of an office in
Elwood, Vic.
Microtex 666 was still going around 1990 when i worked at Telecom
Discovery (Viatel became Discovery 40 and there was also an 80-column
text service called Discovery 80 which gave dialup access to various
services like Telstra's Telememo/Keylink and databases like the SCALE
legal database. one of those service was called ProNet, connected to D80
via an Austpac X.25 line and to the internet at Unimelb with a 9600bps
slip connection for smtp mail, and a 19.2Kbps Trailblazer modem for news
via uucp. AFAIK this was the first service in Australia to give access
to internet news and mail to the general public. i later went on to work
at pronet for a few years).
