Jan, I began with OO but migrated to LO when it was supplied with SuSE Linux 11.4. I now use LO on both that O/S and Windows-7 - version 3.5.6.2 on Linux and 3.5.4 on Windows-7. I've never had any problems at all with LO and some things seem a lot smoother, and I'd claim to be a reasonably "power" user.

These versions seem to handle Microsoft WORD 2003 XML documents (.xml) with no problems. I've never had any problems with WORD 2007/2010 XML format (.docx) either, but haven't had any need to really test that.

I have some nifty spreadsheet macros I originally wrote for OO which work fine in LO too.

Hope that helps...

David L.
