There's plenty at both ends of the spectrum, but no-one in any authority is seriously considering the cyber attack vector. 

If you want seriously whacky though, Google 'Diego Garcia' and 'bio-weapons payload' for a little fun...

Actually, the current thinking by those in the know is that it was a technical failure and the pilot did his best to fly back to a useful runway but ran out of air.
