[LINK] Housekeeping: users disabled by the system in Link

Hi all

I have removed the persistent bounces. Thanks for all the input from all sides, and from those who wished to declare their aliveness.

Mailman nicely handles email addresses from those that have persistent errors (not just domains that have gone AWOL for a short while), and the 96 addresses that I had were all in the ‘persistent’ category.

I wasn’t inclined to email 96 suspect addresses, since Mailman had already worked that out for me - it doesn’t flag those who are intermittent in their availability.

I’m also not inclined to mail everyone on the list and ask if they wish to remain: the instructions on how to handle subscriptions is in the link at the foot of each email issued through the Mailman server - and nor am I inclined to check very often (possibly once a year at best).

As a consequence, the Link list now reflects those people who have valid email accounts: I could give many examples of obvious problems with older addresses, but there is little need on this list (of all lists!) to explain what that range was!

Anyhow - all done and dusted, and I wish you all a very merry secular or non-secular Christmas (since that’s officially what we call it in Australia) and look forward to the New Year with gusto.

Warmly

iT
