Sorry, which of those are 'volunteer engineers"?  The Mozilla corporation
(Firefox) has over 1000 employees and revenue of hundreds of millions of
dollars per year.  Twitter has a market cap of around 30 billion US
dollars.  Microsoft... well.. you get the idea.

So it's been developed by volunteers, and then incorporated into Firefox

If you've got a few weeks to spare I'd suggest going back through the
IETF-HTTP-WG mailing lists.  Yes, there were many volunteers involved in
the process, but there were a LOT of people working for companies with a
financial interest in how HTTP/2.0 turned out, and there is still a lot of
criticism about the end result.
