Google says the Chinese fishing-fleet numbers about 540,000 vessels
Many are small, though the largest of these ships are 100 x 40 metres
Our accepted capacity safety-rule is, ship sq-feet / 15 = 2,400 people
Surely China would squeeze double in, so for many larger ships 5,000?
So 50 ships could carry around 250,000 soldiers and basic equipment.
One Kg of rice a day is ample for humans. So as one shipping container
payload is 27,600 kg it means 250 thousand soldiers need 9 containers
of rice a day to be well fed. The minimum is half that (0.5 kg) every day
If China has planned it well, ample containers of rice are already here,
along with many other shipping containers, full of military equipment,
just waiting in lonely out-of-the way whare-houses across this country
Their soldiers with fold-up, cross-country solar-powered bikes, moving
at night, charging during the day? In no time they could be everywhere.
Tom your ideas / suggestions as follows all seem sensible and do-able.
The Australian navy has three second hand oil platform support vessels,
for carrying supplies, and testing robot submarines. These are much
cheaper to buy and operate than warships.

I have suggested the Australian government buy more support vessels,
paint them with orange stripes, and call them a "Coastguard". They would not look military, but be able to intimidate fishing boats with their
size, and drive them off with remote controlled water cannons. If that
didn't work, there could be drones and missiles hidden on the cargo deck
in shipping containers.

The Australian government is speeding up development of stealthy
armed Ghost Bat drones, to be built outside Toowoomba. These have a
range of 3,700 km.
