My previous post was probably a little off the point, sorry for that!  What "add-ons" did you have in mind?  If AI functionality at the client (laptop) level proves to be a big thing, then perhaps AI support would begin at the hardware level - e.g. support for rather specialised parallel processing.

I suppose popular laptop brands running Windows or Apple software are more likely to have AI "aids" for average users built into the O/S.  But I'd expect the Linux kernel to remain free for some time.
