Reminder: Today's postgraduate training seminar on the topic 'Writing a
research proposal' will be held in Seminar Room A, Coombs Building from
4.00 to about 5.30 (Thursday 4 May)

Writing effective research proposals is an increasingly important aspect
of academic life. ANU staff spend days and weeks preparing applications
for funding the the ARC, and many new graduates must plunge immediately
into applications for post-doctoral grants. Eve access to fieldwork
funding during your PhD candidature is increasingly dependent on a good
research proposal. So how do you write a research proposal, especially
when you don't know what you will find? What do granting bodies look for?
This session will discuss some of the tips of the trade.
