World War II in Papua - Motu memories and songs
from Deveni Temu and Peroveta Singers of PNG

Date: Thursday 24th September, 4-5+ pm
Venue: Macdonald Room, Menzies Library, Australian National University

The Peroveta Singers will be recalling, through words and song, Motu memories of World War II.

This event is being filmed and recorded for educational purposes, and is specifically intended for students of two courses ‘Australia in Oceania’ and ‘War in the Islands’ - but all students (in every sense) of the Pacific, of music, of memory, mission and World War II are most warmly invited.

A presentation by Deveni Temu, including the playing of a lament composed by his father, will be followed by WWII songs performed by the Peroveta Singers and a handful of other selected Peroveta songs in Motu.

There will be opportunity for general discussion, questions and answers, refreshments, and further conversations.

Please extend this invitation to anyone you know who might be interested!
