Dear colleagues,

Some of you will already have heard the very sad news of the passing of our Pacific Studies friend and colleague, Tom Ernst. Tom worked as an anthropologist with communities in the Mt Bosavi area of PNG from the 1970s into the early 2000s, but was a regular and very collegial presence at ANU seminars over many years, always ready with a generous but probing comment or question. He will be greatly missed by his partner, Kerry Zubrinich, and other friends at SSGM, and by all who knew him here. Plans for a wake will be announced in due course, but anyone wishing to sign a card for Kerry will find it at the CHL administration front office with Kathy Markman.
