Dear Colleagues,
Further to my message of Sunday as below, in which I asked for information about the teaching of Pacific languages, I would greatly appreciate hearing any responses you may want to offer concerning the other two points we are charged with addressing, i.e.
Do any of you have an interest in teaching Pacific languages, and if so, which?
And:
If ANU were to make greater investment in Pacific languages, which languages should be prioritised and why?
Best regards,
Alan

Subject: Two queries concerning Pacific language teaching
Dear colleagues,
Miranda and I (as co-convenor) have recently received a request from Stephan Fruehling -chair of a CAP working group on language teaching in CAP - for a submission from the Institute on Pacific language teaching at ANU, with particular reference to:
- national and international offerings of Pacific language teaching
- current activities or interest in Pacific language teaching amongst ANU pacific scholars
- if ANU was to make greater investment in Pacific languages, which languages should be prioritised and why?
In response to this request I am forming a working group to look into these matters and prepare a submission. If any of you wishes to volunteer to serve on that working group please let me know. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.
My second, related query is this. As you can see, one of the tasks we are charged with is to compile information about 'national and international offerings of Pacific language teaching'. Whether or not you would like to serve in the working group, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me information about any current or recent offerings in Pacific languages that you may know of at universities of other institutions anywhere in the world.
Best regards,
Alan Rumsey
