[ANU Pacific.Institute] Pacific Island family day at the National Library of Australia

Warm Pacific greetings!

As part of the National Library of Australia’s Cook and the Pacific exhibition, we are opening our doors this Saturday, 13 October, for the Taste of the Pacific Family Day from 10am-3pm.

Celebrate the cultures of the First Nations peoples of the Pacific with traditional music, dance, arts and crafts, story-telling, food stalls and exhibition tours.

Kids can learn the basics of Island dance and hula from local group Island Breeze, and watch performances from Maluerindi, The Pacific Island Showcase, the ACT Tongan Language and Cultural School and Tumanako Māori Cultural Group.

Visitors can enjoy a world-famous Island Watermelon drink or indulge in a traditional ‘Keke’ Island donut, ‘Palusumi’, Taro Chips or traditional curry as you embrace Pacific Island culture.

Important: Most of the food vendors will be cash only so remember to bring cash, or alternatively you can use our ATM on LG1, across from Paperplate.
