About Kessy Sawang
Kessy was a principal adviser to the Minister for Inter-Government Relations. In this role she was a key interlocutor on sub-national governance and the Papua New Guinea Government’s decentralisation agenda. Prior to this role, Kessy was a candidate in the 2017 national elections (Rai Coast Open, Madang Province) where she finished third. She plans to re-contest in 2022. Previously, Kessy was Deputy Commissioner of Customs and was Head of the Tax Review Secretariat at the Department of Treasury.
She has a strong online presence with a blog, PNGWoman.com, through which she advocates for social justice and empowerment of women and girls. She is also active on Twitter.
