The Hank Nelson Prize for a PhD Thesis on a Papua New Guinea Topic is now open for students who have submitted a thesis before April 2020.

Established by family and friends of the historian Hank Nelson to honour his memory and his commitment to Papua New Guinea.

To be eligible for the Prize, the submission must:

  *   have been awarded a PhD between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2020
  *   be focussed on PNG
  *   be at least 60,000 words in length
  *   submit a hard or digital copy of the thesis to an email address below by 30 April 2020

It offers a prize of AUD$1000 for the best PhD thesis submitted by any student, internationally, on any aspect of PNG’s history or society.
