Yuma and Talofa Lava.

This time last week, we gathered in the Coomb Building Tea Room for some coffee and sandwiches— more importantly to welcome everyone back on campus. (picture attached)

Kibung Thank You
It was wonderful to see members of the Board, staff and students, and new visitors. A special welcome to our new Board members and students. Thank you for coming out and meeting our community. As indicated in our welcome, this year we hope to bring back our Bungwantaim (learning from our research students) and membership review via the new website. You will receive an email in the upcoming month about the re-registering your membership and new profile for the Institute. More information soon.

AAPS Conference April 11-14 2023
This year our Pacific Institute is happy to support the preparations and work of leading up to Australian Association of Pacific Studies Conference ‘To Hell With Drowning’<http://pacificstudies.org.au/conference/to-hell-with-drowning-2023/>. Please register<http://pacificstudies.org.au/conference/to-hell-with-drowning-2023/> and join the conference. We look forward to welcoming so many great visitors from the pacific and across Australia and the globe to a great event.

Cambridge History of the Pacific Ocean
Furthermore congratulations to many members of the Pacific Institute – Paul D’Arcy, Opeta Alefaia, Myjolynne Kim, Chels Marshall, Rochelle Bailey, Roannie Ng Shiu, Nic Halter, Gonzagus Puas and many many others who were part of the The Cambridge History of the Pacific Ocean in Two Volumes. Edited by Paul D’Arcy has now been published (attached TOC). It is one of the largest publications by a top global academic press to come out of CAP in decades. Most importantly, it confirms global academic recognition of CAP's centrality in Asia Pacific Studies, and especially Pacific Studies.

This collection has 78 contributors drawn from 23 nations and 4 Pacific territories, spread across multiple disciplines and non-academic reservoirs of knowledge. Fifteen of the 63 chapters are written by CAP staff, while many more are CAP graduates.

This is the second in the Oceanic Histories Series<https://www.cambridge.org/core/series/cambridge-oceanic-histories/DE614F8F96C4F266443D5416DEF46658> edited by Professor David Armitage, who holds a personal chair in history at Harvard.

Malo tauivi, Malo faimea lelei.

Have a great week

Ia manuia

George
