Hi All, welcome back to Canberra after a fine weekend in Tuross! We had
about 40 members from both the ANUSC and the Mountaineering club down
for a very relaxed and enjoyable couple of days of sailing, windsurfing,
surfing and kayaking. We returned with all our boats intact and, I'm
fairly sure, everyone with whom we left.
Now's our chance to do it all over again at the Bateman's Bay regatta
over the Anzac day long weekend in two weeks' time. With a greater
emphasis on time on the water and the chance to learn some racing
skills, this weekend will be a good chance both for beginners and more
experienced members to discover just how much fun regattas can be. For
those interested in racing, emails are currently being circulated by
members getting crews together to race the club Sharpies.
The weekend's activities will not, however, be limited to racing. Just
as we did at Tuross, boats will be brought along so that members can get
out on the water for a sail. The waters around Bateman's are gorgeous
and offer a different sailing experience certainly from Lake BG and also
Tuross. We in Canberra are so fortunate to live near one of the most
beautiful coastlines I have seen. Come along with us for a sail; it's
the best way to experience this place.
Let me know soon if you are interested in coming along. The trip is
less than two weeks away, so we'll have to work out numbers, travel and
camping arrangements promptly. We'll have a meeting for all those
coming next Wednesday down at the boat shed, when we can also load up
the boats on trailers. I'm especially keen to hear from people who are
able to tow trailers down and back; extra gold stars for these good
people. As with the Tuross trip, we'll work out payment for camping,
travel and food at our meeting prior to the weekend. I'll let you know
in plenty of time what the cost of it all will be. As an indication,
Tuross was $50 which petrol costs for our drivers, bits of ground for
tents and dinner on Saturday night. Very cheap for the fine time we all
had.
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
