Hello everybody,
USYD is organizing a great team racing event in Sydney from the 2nd to
the 4th of October (the 5th is a holiday so we have plenty of time to
go back home), the facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=108570707652
  .
The regatta they organized in autumn was truly awesome, with plenty of
wind, good sailors and a lot of fun.
The idea is that they provide us with the boats, and we just show up
as a team (6 to 8 people) to have fun racing against each other. The
camping / partying will also be quite fun.
I do not know precisely the RRS Appendix D rules to be able to tell
you how the winner will be decided, but it is safe to say that if you
are at the front you might be in a good position. It is aimed at being
fun, so you don't need a crack-shot level to participate, if you can
stay on a boat for 5 minutes without capsizing it is more than enough.
There will be a lot of people (around 60), so a lot of very different
levels of competitors.
The price of the regatta is 600 $ for 6 to 8 people (price per team).
The sailing club should be able to pay a part as we do with all the
other races.
I will be going, and a brief show of hands was pretty positive last
week. It is basically sure we will have a team, so we are shooting for
two.
If you are interested in a week-end of fun racing in Sydney Bay let me
know (jean-francois.morizur at anu.edu.au or 0433887010).
See you
JF
