[Sres-postdocs] REMINDER: All SRES computer networks offline Wednesday morning

Network and Voice Services - originating in Hancock Library Building

Start: 7:30 AM Wednesday, 30 August 2006
End:   7:45 AM Wednesday, 30 August 2006
Duration: 0 hours, 15 minutes

How this outage will affect SRES:


1) All telephones (both IP phones and analogue phones) will not work.

2) All computer network access to the outside world will cease.

3) All computer network access between buildings, and between the 47 and 
53 subnets in the Geography Building, will cease. This means that all 
connections to the SRES servers will be broken.

4) Any software reliant on a license server, such as ArcInfo, will 
*fail* when the network outage occurs.

How to minimize the impact of this outage:

Shut down your computer when you leave SRES tomorrow (Tuesday) evening 
(or earlier if you're not going to be back before Wednesday morning). 
Don't turn your computer back on until after 08:30 on Wednesday morning.

You *will* lose data and/or files if your computer is left on during the
outage.
