We have been advised that the Group of Eight <http://www.go8.edu.au/>
expects to announce in early May, the establishment of a researcher
exchange agreement between Go8 universities and the German Academic
Exchange Service DAAD <http://www.daad.de/> .
The scheme is collaborative initiative of the Go8 Deputy
Vice-Chancellors (Research).
Under the scheme, which will run from 2008 to 2010, up to $400,000 will
be available each year to enhance research collaboration between
Australian and German researchers through facilitating project-based
exchanges of staff.
It is expected that the scheme will provide opportunities for up to 32
Go8 researchers to travel to Germany each year, with a similar number of
German researchers expected to spend time at Go8 universities.
The typical duration of the exchanges is expected to be around one
month, with the scheme to cover airfares and living costs.
Selection of projects will occur through a competitive process.
Eligibility for funding will be restricted to research-active academic
staff (not students) employed by Go8 universities, with funding
preference to be given to early-career researchers.
