The Planetary Science Institute in Tucson Arizona has an immediate 
opening for a Research Assistant in planetary geomorphology. Candidates 
will assist Dr. Mary Bourke in ongoing research projects in aeolian, 
fluvial and rock breakdown studies on Earth and Mars. They should be 
motivated and have a passion for Earth and Planetary sciences and 
possess good logistical and organizational skills.

The research assistant will process satellite images from Earth and 
Mars, use a GIS database, analyze geomorphological data from field 
expeditions and undertake some administrative duties. There may also be 
opportunities to assist in US and overseas field work.

Candidates must hold an undergraduate or Masters degree in geography, 
geomorphology, geology, planetary science or a related field. Candidates 
should have experience working with the internet, Microsoft Word and 
Excel. Previous analysis of geomorphic data sets is highly desirable but 
not essential. Initial training in remote sensing, GIS and GPS software 
will be available. The candidate should have excellent written, verbal 
and numerical skills, a pleasant nature and a willingness to work as 
part of a team, and independently, are required.

This appointment will be for two years initially and will be renewed 
dependent upon continued funding.

Remuneration will be between $21,000 and $31,200 and depend upon 
background and experience.

The position is open immediately and candidates should state in their
