The PAGES 2nd Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) will be taking place in Goa, 
India from 11-12 February 2013.

The YSM is the premier event for early-career researchers, and will be a 
stepping-stone for ECRs who want to develop their professional skills and 
expand their scientific network. With its magnificent beaches, rich 
cultural heritage, delectable cuisine and laid-back vibe, Goa will provide 
an ideal location for a productive yet enjoyable conference.

The meeting will span two days, and the schedule is designed to maximize 
opportunities for networking and for students to gain experience in oral 
and poster presentations. The key components of the program are:

* Scientific sessions
* Career development sessions
* Breakout groups
* Social events

The YSM is open on a competitive basis to approximately 80 outstanding 
ECRs who meet the following criteria:

1. Age: Usually under 35 years

2. Career status
- PhD students: Usually in the latter stages of their degree
- Post-PhD: Usually within 5 years of completing their degree

3. Scientific scope: Paleoscientists (data-based or modelers) or global 
change scientists with a strong, proven interest in paleoscience

The participants will be selected on the basis of the quality of the 
application and suitability.
