Hi AQUA community,

We are seeking contributions of charcoal data to be included in the new SahulCHAR collection (part of the OCTOPUS database: https://bit.ly/cabahoctopus). Thank you to everyone who has contributed already!

SahulCHAR will contain sedimentary charcoal and black carbon records from Australia, New Guinea, and New Zealand, building on previous syntheses for the region and integrated with the Global Paleofire Database as a constituent of Neotoma; this will increase the visibility and accessibility of fire data from Sahul, support its inclusion in global syntheses and comparison with other palaeoenvironmental proxies, and provide each record with a DOI. Published and unpublished data are welcome, and data contributors will be invited to co-author a planned data publication on completion of SahulCHAR.

A data entry template is available here - most fields are optional, and have a chat to us if you're unable to use this format: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0c3pv8m7e02cx7d/SahulCHAR_TemplateforAuthors.xlsx

Please distribute this to your networks, and to anyone who may have data to contribute to the collection.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Emma Rehn (emma.rehn at my.jcu.edu.au<mailto:emma.rehn at my.jcu.edu.au>) or Haidee Cadd (haidee at uow.edu.au<mailto:haidee at uow.edu.au>)

With thanks,

Emma and Haidee
