SSGM Pacific Research Fellow Positions
SSGM is seeking to appoint two Pacific Research Fellows with ongoing research interests in Melanesia (PNG, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia), Timor Leste or West Papua.
SSGM is a vibrant research unit, situated in the School of International, Political and Strategic Studies in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific. It is a leading international centre for applied multidisciplinary research on contemporary Melanesia, Timor-Leste and the wider Pacific. From its inception SSGM was envisaged as a dedicated group of scholars with deep knowledge of countries in the region and a commitment to richly textured long-term empirical research. In addition to its scholarly goals, SSGM maintains a strong commitment to active engagement with policy communities in the region and Australia.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified scholars from the region, with ongoing research interests in Melanesia (PNG, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia), Timor-Leste or West Papua, who are keen to purse a program of writing and publication in a supportive and vibrant intellectual environment. We are seeking scholars with backgrounds in political science, anthropology, human geography, law, gender studies and development studies, whose research interests complement the existing expertise within the Program, which is organised around four thematic clusters.
These short term fellowships (Fixed Term of 12 Months) are open to scholars from the region (Melanesia, West Papua and the broader Pacific) and are intended for scholars wishing to pursue a program of writing and publication.
ANU values diversity and inclusion and believes employment opportunities must not be limited by socio-economic background, race, religion or gender. For more information about staff equity @ ANU, visit http://hr.anu.edu.au/staff-equity.
We are particularly keen to encourage highly-qualified female applicants.
