Not So Greener Pastures: Crossing Oceans - Sri Lanka to Timor Leste

A film by Dr Udan Fernando followed by a Q&A and panel discussion.

A captivating documentary by Udan Fernando that explores the incredible journeys of four young men who left conflict-ridden Sri Lanka at the turn of the new century to start anew in the lesser-known country of Timor-Leste. The film delves into their personal aspirations, the challenges they faced, and the friendships and tensions that defined their experiences. Through their stories, we gain insight into Timor-Leste's complex history and how these individuals navigated a scarred political and economic terrain, mirroring the challenges they left behind.

About Udan Fernando:

Udan Fernando obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam, in International Development Cooperation. So far, Udan has directed eight documentaries and a short feature film. Udan is currently based in Singapore, working as a Consultant with the Association for Asian Studies (AAS), Michigan, in one its projects with Universities in Cambodia, Thailand, India, Pakistan and Timor Leste.
