Intel's "Classmate PC" (previously the "Eduwise") is a project for an
educational computer for developing nations
<http://www.obook.info/blogs/view_post.php?content_id=55>. It has
similar specifications to the OLPC $100 laptop, with a 7" LCD
display, flash memory and no hard disk. Unlike the OLPC which uses
Linux, the Classmate PC will use an embedded version of Windows XP,
with Linux as an option. But I suggest an even cheaper $US50 could be
made by using mobile phone and pocket calculator construction
techniques, rather than those of laptop computers.
