When was this? Before 1996?

I remember registering .org.au domains circa 1995/1996 and having absolutely
no trouble with them. None of them were 'vanity' domain names.

I did learn relatively quickly which information was pertinent to registering
org/com/net.au and I'd make sure it was all very clearly documented in the
request. If I supplied enough information then I'd get the domain in a week.
(A week, but still..) If I didn't supply enough information I'd not hear from
KRE for weeks, sometimes never.

(And no: I didn't know KRE.)
