Hullo.
Just saw this on a mailing list.:
"This email (including any attachments) is only for the intended named
recipient/s and may be confidential or privileged. If you are not the
intended recipient, please let us know by forwarding your response to
the following email address, ******* [1], delete it from your
system and destroy any copies. This email is subject to copyright and
may not be reproduced or altered, and the use of any information is
prohibited, without our consent. If you would not like to receive
further email correspondence from us please reply to the above email
address indicating your wishes."
"Named recipients"? Named where? In the headers? Then it is intended for
whoever gets it. And this was sent to a mailing list! It might have gone
to a dozen, a thousand, a million recipients, none of whom would be
"named" in the email.
If we are not the intended recipient, how can we know? And if we do know
that we are not the intended recipient, why in a world of SPAM should we
have the slightest interest in helping you overcome your incompetence or
waste more of our time telling you about it?
"May be confidential or privileged"? May be, or is? Don't you, the
sender, know? And if it is, then sending it to a mailing list was a bit
silly, don't you think? And if it wasn't, why the dire warnings?
The information you provided to us, whether it was your intention to do
so or not, was not provided to us under any agreement we had any part
in, so your demand not to reproduce it and your prohibition on its use
are at very least dubious, if not entirely unenforceable.
What a stupid, stupid email footer.
Regards, K.
