As much as I dislike Internet Explorer, I think you are just using this
as an excuse to unfairly criticise it.

An "as installed" copy of Firefox provides no ad-blockers.  They are
written by third parties (not the Mozilla foundation), and are optional.

So, "as installed", Firefox won't block web adverts, Flash or not. 
Neither will Opera, or Safari, for that matter.  But, as I understand
it, there are ad-blockers available for IE, Opera and Safari.  Not just
Firefox.  There is also browser-neutral ad-blocking software available.

Therefore any argument regarding web adverts seems fairly academic to
me.  If people really want to avoid web adverts then there are plenty of
options available to them.

I believe that if web adverts become more persistent, filters to remove
them will only get better, just like antispam software has for e-mail.
As the saying goes, the Internet will route around the problem.
