I listen to several podcasts, only one of which is derived from radio
broadcasts.
For me they provide a bank of material to listen to on planes and on
longer car journeys, as they did for your ferry ride.
I would expect there is a strong correlation between podcast consumption
and transport - live radio tends to be something I put 'in the
background' when I don't want to concentrate on it, but starting a
podcast is a deliberate act when I want to hear the content, and so I
only listen when I have time to focus on the podcast content.

Paul.
