This was mostly a problem with the application, not the infrastructure.
The system was able to respond to my reasonable requests with
inappropriate or ill-considered responses in a perfectly reasonable
timeframe and without crashing or throwing exceptions at me <grin>
I wasn't really getting into the debate about the ICT rationalisation,
just commenting on a specific appalling example of interface design I
happened across ;-)
