Over the years, I have actively resisted switching to a Telco, who offers a
discounted bill, but doesn't provide any infrastructure. It is bad enough when
Telstra is the service provider and your phone line stops working. So, I have
three independent, best of breed, service providers for home phone, mobile and
internet - maybe one more, if you count TV.

The reality is Telstra is still providing the infrastructure - except with
Wireless (both Terrestrial and Satellite). Did we learn anything from the Cable
fiasco?.

Ofcourse now Telstra is only accountable to the mythical "shareholder" which
includes a swag of public servants, whose super is safe in the Future Fund. But
was it any better when they were accountable to MPs in marginal seats?

So, how much broadband can you get in Rural WA for 25% of the royalties from mining?
