Do you mean maintenance or repair? As I understand it, they only do
repair now, and sometimes that takes days to accomplish. Would it get
worse if Telstra wasn't the landline provider? Well, since the
customer is then the ISP, maybe there is more clout than the
individual home customer would have anyway. Maybe the ISP hires it
done and sticks Telstra with the bill. Just an idea.
One of the real problems is loss of communications should power go
out, yes? I remember during the power outages there were discussions
about the handsfree phones being useless and when batteries ran out
on mobiles, ditto. At least with the good ol' landline phones that
take power from the line, there is communication. I have four, not a
hands free in sight.
