Difficult to know whom to respond to, but Carl wrote the latest post:

Yes Carl, so it would seem .. BPL has a number of un-resolved issues.
However, from the numerous successful trials, the strong work by the
European Union (Opera www.ist-opera.org), the work companies such as
IBM will throw at the issues, and also 'strong' FCC support for BPL:
"On 8 Aug 2006 the FCC adopted a memorandum opinion and an order on
broadband over power lines, giving the go-ahead to promote broadband
service to all Americans. FCC chief Kevin Martin said that BPL "holds
great promise as a ubiquitous broadband solution that would offer a
viable alternative to cable, digital subscriber line, fiber & wireless
broadband solutions"
would sure suggest that all these moths might soon spread the BPL light.
Certainly the IEEE have apparently reached agreement re BPL (IEEE P1901).
So, it will be interesting to see what happens. There's powerfull groups
on both sides of this fence. But with strong American and European Union
support, against vested commercial interests, BPL floats my boat, though
one guesses we shall all simply have to wait and see how the various BPL
technologies & standards develop. Thanks for interesting Link discussion.
Cheers,
Stephen
