I subscribe to many ABC podcasts through iTunes. They are all downloaded
as MP3 files, playable on any MP3 player or through your computer
speakers. You don't need an iPod, and the iTunes software is free. It just
happens that using this software makes it very easy to keep up with the
latest podcasts. I even use it to gather the latest episodes of something
called A Series of Tubes.
