I'm trying to finalise my long-intended history of the first couple
of years of 'the Web in Oz'.
It reflects the considerable amount of feedback I had following the
last RFC on this topic back in 2010.
I'd of course greatly appreciate any and all feedback on the paper!
Thanks! ... Roger

The World Wide Web arrived just as connections to the Internet were
broadening from academe to the public generally. It supported
user-performed publishing and access to documents in both textual and
graphical forms, and was quickly supplemented by means to discover
content. The web-browser was the 'killer app' associated with the
explosion of the Internet into the wider world. The technology
originated in Switzerland, with key contributions then coming from
the USA. Australians were among the pioneers in its application, and
this document traces the story of the Web in Australia from its
beginnings in 1992, up to 1995, identifying key players and what they
did, set within the broader context.
The paper is targeted at a refereed journal. To skip the Intro,
Precursors, and general Web history, and get directly to the
Australian segment, go here:
