The National Relay Service has advised that its service for connecting people with hearing or speech impairments by phone has reduced operating capacity due to the Queensland floods and is giving priority to emergency calls. The service is based in Brisbane and so this is effecting calls nationwide. See: "Interruptions to relay services" (12 January 2011): <http://www.relayservice.com.au/news/floods/>.

The media release is also provided in Australian Sign Language (Auslan): <http://www.deafsocietynsw.org.au/floods/>.
