Among brands that have been tried and failed miserably are Apple and 
Samsung, which I would have expected to perform better. My everyday 
phone is a basic Samsung, which works quite well on signals that its 
so-called smart sibling couldn't even manage to connect on.

Thank God I have other people's experiences to guide me. I've saved 
untold time, money and frustration.
