There seems to be a confusion that 'dimdim' is even a Tok Pisin word and that its the same as 'demdem'.

Demdem is the snail, and I am inclined towards Syuntaroo's explanation of its arrival from Japan at the moment. Any rebuttals?

Is 'dimdim' not restricted to Milne Bay where for most of the C20th Tok Pisin was little spoken? I only have read about 'dimdim' in books, usually written by white folks. 

Anyhow 'dimdim' as surely in use long before WWII. Linus - are you there? Help us out.
